CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Blue Envelope Health fund granted the City of Casper funding for 13 AEDs.

“What we do is we grant funds to organizations to help them meet a need, and so what we did with the City of Casper is we granted funds to help them purchase AEDs, portable AEDs to help to put them in the facilities throughout the City of Casper,” said Blue Envelope Board Member Ryea O’Neill.

The Blue Envelope Health Fund was founded in Casper in 1958. They are an all-volunteer local organization focused on health care issues that have been split into four divisions: cancer, heart, mental health, and wellness.

“We know the city has many buildings throughout the area, and they can put an AED to help cover and to help with prevention. That’s a prevention program that helps the citizens,” said O’Neill.

The City of Casper requested funding from the organization in February, to replace old AED units and increase the number of units in city buildings.

“Our goal is you never have to use those. We don’t ever want to have to use those machines, but if something happened and there was an emergency event they’re available to the citizens to help them in that emergency before those emergency responders get there,” said O’Neill.

The Casper City Council will recognize Blue Envelope’s donation during their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 1.

Blue Envelope funds community health-related services for a variety of organizations. For more information about Blue Envelope, to donate, or to request funding visit their website.
